Coronavirus (COVID-19) updates:
Spirit Airlines is closely tracking developments surrounding the COVID-19 coronavirus to help you plan your travel. This information includes answers to frequently asked questions meant to keep you safe and healthy, along with our flexible travel policy for Guests who must alter travel plans due to COVID-19. This page will be updated as new information becomes available.

Flexible Travel Policy
We recognize the potential uncertainty regarding travel plans during this time and offer the following flexible travel policy. Spirit Guests who must alter their travel plans due to COVID-19 are eligible to receive a reservation credit for the full value of their reservation. This reservation credit can be used for up to 6 months to book any flight currently available (including beyond the 6-month timeframe), and it can be used towards flights as well as other options (excluding 3rd party products).

· Guests who cancel their reservation can request a refund of their travel insurance premiums from Travel Guard, if eligible, here.
· Guests needing to cancel or make changes to a reservation due to other circumstances are advised to make modifications to their reservation online. |
Travel Advisories
The situation surrounding COVID-19 Coronavirus is evolving constantly, resulting in rapidly changing travel restrictions between countries worldwide. Some bans on travel between specific countries are already in effect. Others are likely to go into effect. Spirit Airlines recommends consulting official government travel resources for your countries of departure and arrival prior to flying.
Below are important travel advisories to ensure your trip is as smooth as possible avoid disruption on your day of travel.

On Saturday, March 14th, the Government of Ecuador advised that they will be closing all borders inclusive of airports effective Tuesday, March 17 until further notice. No travel into the country will be permitted.

El Salvador |
On Wednesday, March 11th, the President of El Salvador announced a number of preventive measures in connection with the COVID-19 coronavirus, including a 30-day travel ban on non-Salvadorans entering the country, effective immediately. Non-Salvadorans who are residents of El Salvador or have diplomatic status in El Salvador are exempt from the travel ban. For further information, please review here

Colombia |
We recommend that you complete the information requested as required by the Government of Colombia to expedite processing upon arrival. This can also be completed via paper form upon arrival. |
Guatemala |
On Friday, March 13th, the Government of Guatemala announced a number of preventive measures in connection with the COVID-19 coronavirus, including a travel ban of passengers from a number of countries including the United States of America. Guatemalan citizens, diplomats, and legal residents in Guatemala will be allowed to enter the country after screening and then expected to observe home quarantine. This will go into effect Monday, March 16, 2020.

On Saturday, March 14th, the Government of Saint Martin announced a travel ban of passengers from a number of international countries including the United States of America. This will in effect as of Tuesday, March 17, 2020 and will last for at least 2 weeks. |
What we’re doing to protect you
Spirit continues to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and remains in close contact with authorities to further ensure the safety of our Guests and Team Members. We are following current CDC procedures related to “Preventing Spread of Disease on Commercial Aircraft.” Below is some information on our procedures.
The disinfectants we use on our planes have been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as effective against COVID-19 coronavirus. We have sent additional cleaning chemical supplies to our stations, increased our onboard supply kit quantities for our inflight teams, and expanded the cleaning protocols that our teams utilize on aircraft, focusing on high frequency touch points such as handles, seatbelt buckles, tray tables and armrests.
- Our all-Airbus fleet is equipped with state-of-the-art high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters that capture 99.97 percent of particles.
- Spirit crew are trained to report and address infectious diseases and work closely with industry leader MedAire for ground and inflight expert medical assistance.
What our Guests can do
- If you are feeling ill, follow the recommendations of your medical professional. Guests who are traveling from restricted areas and/or present themselves with a respiratory illness will be medically assessed and may be denied boarding.
- Follow these preventative actions provided by the CDC to help keep yourself safe and prevent the spread of respiratory diseases.
- Guests are welcome to travel with extra antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer. Please note the TSA limit of on liquid of 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item.
